Skomer Island and the Puffins

Skomer Island, off the Pembrokeshire coast in South Wales is a haven for sea birds, famous for its colony of 43,000 puffins

Here are a selection of photos we took on a recent visit to Skomer Island, off the Pemrokeshire coast of South Wales. There are some 43,000 puffins who make their way to the island each year to rear their chicks. They dig borrows in the sides of the island, which is safe for them as the island does not have any rodents.

These photos were all taken with the Fujifilm X-T5 and the Fujifilm XF 70-300 lens. It doesn’t have the longest range, but in combination with the 40 megapixel sensor of the X-T5, you can get some decent shots from a distance.
